Dairy Farmers

On the horizon

The West End ‘s skyline will soon be elevated with two luxury towers soaring up at the former Dairy Farmer’s Towers site.

A new signature landmark is on the way for Newcastle, with a pair of skyscrapers beginning to rise in the West End. Dairy Farmers Towers will comprise of a 99-metre north tower, and an 89-metre south tower, and is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2025. The development will feature more than 180 contemporary apartments, five floors of commercial space, and the site’s iconic, heritage-listed clock and milk bottle façade facing Hunter Street will be retained.

The project is being spearheaded by the award-winning developer Third.i and CKDS architecture. Third.i Co-founder and Global Director of Sales and Marketing Luke Berry says the building design and materials have been carefully planned with the location, site and history in mind. “The architectural design will bring an elegant yet dynamic presence to the Newcastle streetscape and skyline, and has a considered material palette that considers aesthetics, durability, maintenance, and response to heritage,” he says.

Inside, the one, two and three-bedroom apartments will be constructed with chic, classical and understated interiors, functional layouts and dual aspect views. Berry says generous balconies will wrap the full perimeter of the towers, which has been a key factor in the design of the façade, as well as the lifestyle the residences will offer those who will call the towers home.

Over 90% of the apartments in Dairy Farmers Towers are corner apartments, which allows for 270-degree views, cross ventilation and a vast amount of natural light.

“Over 90% of the apartments in Dairy Farmers Towers are corner apartments, which allows for 270-degree views, cross ventilation and a vast amount of natural light,” he says. “The apartments with an eastern aspect will capture the Newcastle Harbour, Stockton Beach, Port Stephens in the distance, the Newcastle CBD and out to Bar Beach and Merewether. The apartments with a western aspect will have views out over Hamilton, Broadmeadow, McDonald Jones stadium and the sunsets out over Mount Sugarloaf.”

As well as having some of the most impressive, sweeping views in the city, residents will also have access to some of Newcastle’s best on their doorstep including the harbour and exquisite dining and entertainment options, as well as the convenience of the transport interchange. Non-residents are invited to experience the heritage icon in a new way through landscaped pedestrian laneways and public art.

“We feel like the West End is our second home and we are excited to be part of its revitalisation,” Berry says. “We want Dairy Farmers Towers to be a West End icon, a landmark that will be reborn to create a new chapter in the area’s growth as a great place in which to live, work and play.”
