From the Editor.

We’re delighted you’ve picked up a copy of our second edition of NEW Magazine! Your complimentary quarterly lifestyle magazine that’s filled with Newcastle’s most influential people and places.

We’ve been overwhelmed with the outstanding response since our inaugural Winter edition. I’m so grateful and appreciative for the emails, messages, and calls as we continuing crafting something very new and different for our community.

Since our first edition, I’m delighted to share that Newcastle Weekly came into the fold as a sister publication to NEW Magazine. We’re proud to publish two magazines, each with their own unique identity and place in the community. One common thread, is the quality of the paper, purposefully chosen to provide that amazing tactile feel that our readers say they love.

In our Spring edition, we share, an insider’s look at the place I called home for the past 14 years. It might not be the most obvious choice for a short stay in Sydney, but the revitalisation of Double Bay shares close similarities with our own CBD’s continuing transformation.

Our love of architecture and grand homes continues this edition, featuring two very different styles of architecture and craftsmanship. First, our front cover star, a house on The Hill. Then, come explore a remarkable terrace in Cooks Hill.

Finally, congratulations to Braddon Snape, who was named winner of the Lake Art Prize for 2022 for his Allusive Object 2022. Come on the journey as Braddon shares with us, a day in the life of an award-winning artist.
